(Backpackers)
I have been traveling for a while now, whether it is due from my work(which was hitting two birds in one stone) or just simply hanging around a loved one and enjoying the culture of the places I visit. There is always a difference from all the people I have met traveling around and across the oceans… Are they a tourist or a traveler?
Traveler Divided into Two Category
First of all, what is the difference between the two? I must say, that a Tourist is the one that travels within a short period of time that always want to keep going and see places fitting all that in their schedule, I should say due to certain circumstances that they have. Traveler on the other hand, is the one that travels around the places, taking his time to know more about the culture, people, and tradition. The one that has no time restrictions which often falls to the name, Backpacker.
A Backpacker as usual always carry a backpack everywhere he goes as it is more convenient in traveling some humble areas that are lacking of certain things we enjoy in the city. They travel on a budget because they always prefer to stay longer, live with the people and learn more about them and the place. Going from one place to another after knowing and living with one it for sometime.
Now, what do you reckon is the best type of an explorer? Be a Tourist or a Traveler? In my opinion, I would say a Traveler is the one that travels and see places whatever intentions he may have (whether he stays for just a couple of weeks or stay longer and maybe live there). However, it is now divided into two category of a traveler: Tourist and Backpacker.

For some reason, majority of the people can only be a tourist because they have obligations back to their home and work that leaves them to maximize the time limit they have for traveling. Although the downside is that, traveling this way will not make them truly understand how it truly is in the place they are visiting. How people live their lives, how they are, who they are. Tourists will just always remember the monumental places caught on their cameras but not the values of the people and the place.
Meanwhile, backpackers are taking their time to know all these aspects of the places they are visiting. Learning the language, befriending locals, living like a local, seeing the beautiful places not known to the other tourists, and becoming one with them. These are the travelers that are usually young and carefree as they call them back to their home, but they are having the best time of their lives really. A privilege others might not recognize… but the traveler that experience the real life.
